PROFESSOR-LEVEL POSITION Clinical Psychologist sought by the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Company: Columbia University City: New York State: NY Country: USA Affiliation: New York Presbyterian Hospital and satellite locations Job : The Center for Behavioral Health and Youth Justice in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks to fill a position for clinical/counseling psychologist and Director of the Center for Behavioral Health and Youth Justice at the Professor level. Primary responsibility of the role will be to advance the overall mission of the Center, which is to promote the behavioral health of underserved, vulnerable youth through multi-level research that develops, implements, and evaluates evidence-based practices to identify, prevent, and address suicidality, mental health, and substance use disorders among youth within the justice system. This will involve obtaining grants, building and shaping the research mission of the Center, leading funded projects within the Center, and additional leadership duties related to fiscal and administrative oversight, professional development and mentorship of a large and diverse team of early-stage investigators. Essential to the role is the ability to maintain existing and develop new partnerships with criminal-legal and juvenile justice partners (local/county probation departments and court systems) throughout the US and internationally at both local and state levels. Additional duties will entail providing clinical consultation to community-based partners for a suicide prevention intervention; evaluation of study implementation; development of study protocols; leading data analysis, manuscript development, and dissemination of findings. Additional duties relevant to the broader department will include serving on the IRB, serving as co-Director of the Department Grand Rounds program, and mentoring (formally and informally) postdoctoral fellows and psychiatric residents on T32 or related mechanisms. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience conducting research in the juvenile justice and criminal-legal systems, and a track record of successful community partnerships. Experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of trauma-informed interventions, focusing on vulnerable populations of young people such as those involved in, or at risk for involvement in the juvenile justice system. Clinical training/experience working with high-risk populations of adolescents/ young adults, including those presenting with suicidality, trauma, substance use, and anxiety/depression.
