JOB DESCRIPTION

• Strips coatings from surfaces, prepares surfaces, and paints surfaces of parts and subassemblies with primer, finish, and protective coatings in accordance with technical manuals, specifications or engineering drawings using multiple application methods.
• Sets up various types of spray-painting equipment and work stands and applies primer, finish, protective paint and paint-like coatings to parts and subassemblies.
• Obtains paint types, colors, number of coats and areas to be painted from provided documentation, engineering drawings and process specifications. Mixes paint to specified proportions and to obtain proper consistency for application.
• Performs incidental preparatory duties such as cleaning and preparing surfaces for coatings and masking as directed.
• Prepares, masks and sprays types of primer, finish and protective coatings on aircraft components.
• Makes operating adjustments to painting equipment.
• Spray-paints with various coatings, as specified.
• In preparation for paint application, will prepare surface by sanding / masking.

REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of and ability to operate spray-painting equipment and use acceptable techniques in paint booths, or in other designated painting areas to layout, mask and apply finishes.
• Ability to obtain paint mixing, masking and surface preparation information from applicable documents and use decimals, fractions, and proportions.
• Ability to apply coatings in conformance with specified tolerances.
• Painting using engineering drawings.
• Coordinate stripping and painting operations simultaneously.
• High school Diploma / GED
• 3-5 Years of precision painting experience
• Willing to work overtime / weekends when necessary.
