Human Resources Director


About the Job:
Casaléna is seeking an experienced Human Resources and Risk Management

Executive to join our team. The ideal candidate for this role is an energetic, confident

leader who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, and risk

management for Casaléna Restaurant. You will collaborate with Ownership and

Executive teams to develop and execute people strategies that foster a positive work

culture, legislative compliance, and support the organization's growth and success. This

position reports directly to Restaurant Ownership.

The position offered is in person 5-days a week.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations for hourly staff and


· Oversees the discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company


· Maintains compliance with all labor regulations and employee documentation

· Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains any additional HR staff as needed.

· Maintains consistent communication with restaurant ownership in regards to employee

performance, complaints, and investigations.


· Champions a pro-company culture in all meetings, materials, communication, and


· Collaborates with restaurant ownership and executive leadership to define the

organization’s long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission

through talent management and administration.

· Identifies key performance indicators for the organization’s human resource, risk

management, and talent management functions; assesses the organization’s success

and market competitiveness based on these metrics.

· Researches and presents competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal,

and employee incentive programs as instructed.

· Oversees payroll performance, risk and human capital management systems, and all

related tax obligations.

· Audits company payroll, including time sheets and tip distributions prior to check

issuance and direct deposit

· Regularly evaluates human resources technology and its possible application for the


· Provides guidance and leadership to the department teams; assists with resolution of

human resources, payroll, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.

· Manages enterprise risk through development of safety practices, and coordination of

internal programs.

· Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws,

regulations, and requirements.

· Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law,

human resources, and talent management.

· Drafts and implements the organization’s budget for the legal, risk and human

resources department.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

· Knowledge of HR and Payroll platforms, including but not limited to Paychex

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

required; Master’s degree preferred.

· At least ten years of legal/human resource management experience required, with

strategic, talent management, and risk management experience.

· Payroll management experience

· California restaurant or hospitality experience preferred.

· SPHR or SHRM-SCP preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

• Performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for

extended periods of time, twist at the neck and trunk, bend at the waist and

stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

• The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, reach

overhead, above shoulders and horizontally
