Job Description Data Scientist III Position Overview Work with a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop and deploy GenAI applications supporting Walmart's finance department. Build state-of-art LLM models by training with massive amount of Walmart data utilizing open-source or in-house tools.
As a Data Scientist III, you will work closely with business teams to identify opportunities and translate requirements into innovative technical solutions. You will lead the design and development of generative AI solutions, working with engineers and platform architects to integrate and deploy robust ML applications. You will stay at the cutting edge of data science and machine learning advancements, continuously exploring new technologies to enhance the team's technical capabilities. Your strong analytical skills and experience with optimization problems will be key to providing actionable recommendations.

We use a hybrid way of working that is primarily in the office coupled with virtual when not onsite. Data Scientist III Main Responsibilities - Collaborate closely with business teams to identify opportunities and translate requirements into innovative technical solutions.
- Lead the design and development of generative AI solutions, utilizing established techniques and creating custom algorithms when necessary.
- Work closely with engineers and platform architects to integrate and deploy robust ML applications and systems.
- Stay at the forefront of data science and machine learning advancements by continuously exploring and evaluating new technologies and methodologies.
- Conduct advanced analyses to provide recommendations on the applicability and efficiency of product features.
Data Scientist III Minimum Qualifications - Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 2 years experience in an analytics or related field.
- Option 2: A master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Option 3: 4 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
- Strong knowledge of retail and one or more business practices across domains such as product, finance, marketing, technology, and business systems.
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Experience with large dataset mining tools and open-source programming tools (e.g., R, Python).
- Expertise in solving optimization problems using integer programming.
- Ability to deconstruct abstract problems, formulate hypotheses, and conduct detailed analyses.
- Experience navigating ambiguity and building rapid business cases/prototypes.
- Hands-on experience with analytics and reporting tools such as Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery), Microsoft Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.

- Master's degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Econometrics
- Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R
- Using open source frameworks (for example, sci-kit learn, TensorFlow, torch)
- We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly

Data Scientist III Compensation and Benefits - The annual salary range for this position is $108,000.00-$216,000.00
